Taos Pueblo

Taos is a towninTaos Countyin the north-central region ofNew Mexicoin theSangre de Cristo Mountains.The town is close toTaos Pueblo, theNative Americanvillage and tribe from which it takes its name.The English nameTaosderives from the nativeTaos languagemeaning "place of red willows". The townis home to more than twenty sites on theNational Register of Historic Places.
