Besançon

Besançon is the capital of the department of Doubs and of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in eastern France, close to the border with Switzerland. In 2013, it had a population of 116,952. Once proclaimed the first green city of France, it has been labeled a "Town of Art and History" since 1986. Since 2008, the Citadel of Besançon has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
